A little bit about me...
Hi, I’m Kate!
I am a Georgia based adventure, lifestyle, and portrait photographer with a heart for loving and serving God and people. I’m most at home wandering about by the water, through the woods, on a mountain, or in the overgrown pastures of central Georgia’s countryside.
I used to look up at the trees and focus on a specific leaf thinking to myself – I may never see that same leaf ever again. I’d ponder deeper the likelihood that perhaps no one else, ever, had seen that particular leaf aside from me…and maybe they never would. This intrigued me.
Often, I’d look out for the details that may only be seen once – the details, parts to the whole often overlooked. I’d stop, and I’d see. Those treasured moments planted the seed from which my interest in photography would ultimately grow.
Through photography, I’m able to capture a moment, a detail, just as I see it…and share it with others. Those that may have otherwise never seen…they see! How incredible! Photography gives us a ‘second’ chance to see a piece of God’s creation, His artwork as it may never be seen again.
Why ‘Living Second’…
While ‘Living Second’ alludes to photography’s ability to seemingly stop time in the present moment, capturing a living second…the greater purpose behind the name lies in Philippians 2:3-4 where God calls us to “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others as more significant than yourselves. Let each of you not only look to his own interests, but also to the interests of others.” This verse is as much a foundation for my approach to photography as it is a daily reminder for the way I hope to live life – truly valuing others, their needs, their interests just as much if not more so than my own…and remaining humble all the while.
